Mechanical engineering II - F. Garret Hendrix, p. e.

Garret Hendrix is a highly qualified source of information. Since graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1989 with a mechanical  engineering degree,   Garret Hendrix has worked extensively in both engineering design/consulting and manufacturing. Garret has over 20 years experience in  mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering and reliability engineering. His experience as Engineer and consultant throughout these areas has given him the diversity necessary to complete projects   efficiently and effectively. Mr. Hendrix’s design/consulting experience primarily evolved from the water and wastewater industry. He provides detailed design and specifications for several heating, ventilating, & air conditioning (HVAC) systems and has managed other HVAC design projects valued up to $200,000. He has also provided detailed design and specifications for several material processing facilities related to wastewater treatment and managed similar projects valued up to $3,000,000. These projects generally included material handling systems, chemical feed systems, air scrubbers, and process control systems. Additional design projects included compressed air systems and odor control (gas scrubbing) systems. Construction management and capital cost estimates were also provided for several projects.

Garret’s manufacturing experience has come from several industries as mentioned above. He has worked as a process engineer and a plant engineer in the pulp and paper industry, a production manager in the cryogenics industry, a process engineer in the refrigeration industry, and a designer/machine builder in the automation        industry. Through his experience in manufacturing, he has had a broad exposure to many different manufacturing processes and developed detailed knowledge in some.

From 1993 to 1995, Mr. Hendrix attended the University of Florida and obtained a  Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Entrepreneurship. This formal education of business management coupled with engineering knowledge provided the impetus to form Hendrix Engineering, Inc. in 2000, a company offering mechanical design/build, hydraulic, and proactive maintenance services. While the proactive maintenance services to date have focused mainly on hydraulics where Mr. Hendrix is a Hydraulic Specialist, Hendrix Engineering, Inc. is constantly exploring new opportunities in predictive maintenance. The newest service to be offered is the use of ultrasonic technology to diagnose bearing failure, air leaks, steam-trap failure, etc. Other services include…
